Comprehensive Stoma Care and Skin Management in Disability and Aged Care:

This specialised training program is designed to equip professionals in the Disability and Aged Care sector with the essential skills and knowledge required for effective Stoma Care and Skin Management.


Stomas are vital for individuals with various medical conditions, and proper care is crucial to ensure the well-being and comfort of those in our care.

Key Learning Objectives:

Understanding Stomas:

  • In-depth knowledge of different types of stomas and associated medical conditions.

  • Identification of common issues and challenges related to stomas in the context of disability and aged care.

Stoma Care Techniques:

  • Practical training in the proper cleaning and maintenance of stomas to prevent infections and complications.

  • Hands-on sessions on changing stoma appliances with a focus on minimising discomfort for the individuals.


Skin Management:

  • Comprehensive understanding of skin health and potential complications related to stoma care.

  • Strategies to prevent and address skin issues, emphasising the importance of personalised care plans.


Communication and Empathy:

  • Developing effective communication skills to discuss stoma care with individuals and their families sensitively.

  • Building empathy and understanding towards the emotional aspects of living with a stoma.

  • Units Delivered
    The following units will be included in your certificate: HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Course Delivery
    This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at a facility organised by the training provider.
  • Course Duration
    Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount. Refresher Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour 30 Mins Blended Face to Face contact time of at least 1 Hour 30 Mins Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 20 Mins
  • Assessment Requirements
    Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the following sections.
  • Certificate Renewal Requirements
    Your Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate is valid for 12 months, after which you will need to renew it in order to ensure that your knowledge and skills remain up to date.
  • Learner Rights, Responsibilities & Support
    Please note that enrolment to this course is made with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909. Please refer to the student handbook located on the RTO website ( for all details relating to rights and responsibilities, including complaints and appeals.
  • Assessment Activities
    Performance tasks and practical scenarios: Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position) Perform CPR on an infant Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
  • Provider of Training and Assessment
    This course is delivered and assessed on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909 by Beeline Training Academy.
  • Entry Requirements
    Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and rescue breathing techniques on manikins. Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face-to-face session, depending on the course delivery mode. Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies by 5 p.m. the day before the assessment.
